Japanese Day 2016 (TOEFL in the Philippines)

The Genius English Proficiency Academy celebrated Japanese Day on November 23, 2016. It was informative as it was when there is a Nationality Day celebration at the school.

Japan is also known as “The land of the rising sun”. The Japanese name for Japan is Nippon or Nihon. Tokyo is the capital city of it and the most populated city. Japan is located in the Pacific Ocean and has 6, 852 islands. It is composed of the four largest islands such as Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku.

The people there wear kimono, which is their traditional garment, but today, it is most often worn by women on special occasions.

One of the most popular swords in history is the katana. It was used by the samurai of feudal and ancient Japan.

Now i know why Japanese people are always cute with their dresses. It is because it is part of their culture. The word “kawaii” is the Japanese word of “cute”. As part of their culture, they use it in any aspect like mannerisms, behavior, food, toys, and personal appearance.

Aside from that, there are many companies all over the world which came from Japan. They are companies that are leading this generation when we talk about technology such as Sony, Panasonic, Honda, Toyota, etc. It’s amazing right? You could see how smart they are. They made machines and most likely of human gestures and languages that we called them robots. Today, some of the companies and restaurants there use robots as their employees. Regarding of economy, Japan is the third-largest by nominal GDP in the world. It is a monetary measure or the market value of all final goods and services.

In terms of animes, Japan is the number one maker of them as of this generation. If you have favorite anime television series or characters, they might be made in Japan. There is a lot of anime television series that are very popular all around the world like Dragon Ball Z, Voltes V, Doraemon, Slam Dunk, and many more.

Those were few of the information we learned during the Japanese Day. After the discussions, the Japanese students taught us on how to play some of their funny games.

After the games, “it’s eating time”. They prepared some Japanese food for dinner and it was oishii (delicious).

There is no doubt, that Japan is one of the most progressive and developing countries all over the world. To all the Japanese people, “Happy Japanese Day”. Arigatou Gozaimasu.
