Things just keep getting better and better here at Genius English Proficiency Academy!
Japan was the last featured country for the month of November, but it definitely was not the least! On Wednesday, November 25, 2015, our academy celebrated Japanese Day. The students and staff gathered at the lobby to witness the presentation prepared by the Japanese students with the help of our Japanese Marketing staff Mr. Taka. But of course, the event wouldn’t be possible without the support of our very own Miss Tatiana and the Genius Interactive Group: Artu, Teacher Jill, and John.
Before the celebration started, coloring posters were displayed on the walls. Teachers and students brought out the artists in them by adding color to these Japanese inspired wallpapers.
When classes were finally over, everybody flocked at the lobby to see the presentation. A brief discussion was made about Japan’s history, historical landmarks, culture, economy, and society.
They even prepared popular Japanese snacks! These may seem like children’s favorite food but believe me, they taste OISHI!!!
This probably is the wackiest part of the event. Students and staff were taught how to use the chopsticks! After the instructions were given, selected participants (non-Japanese) were asked to join a short competition. Whoever moves the most food from one plate to the other with chopsticks wins!
The party was a success and another unforgettable experience was shared. It’s heartwarming to see students and staff spend time to strengthen connections not just through academics but through genuine friendship.
Japanese Day may be the last featured event for the month of November but December has a lot in store for us! Will it be Vietnam? Taiwan? Spain? Who knows?! Keep your eyes and ears peeled for December’s calendar of events.
We would like to thank the Japanese students, Mr. Taka and the rest of the staff, Genius Interactive Group, and Miss Tatiana for making this wonderful gathering possible.
