The Genius English Proficiency Academy celebrated the Mongolian Day on December 07, 2016 together with the students, teachers, and staffs.
We celebrate Nationality Day in different countries like Mongolia, Japan, Australia, Russia, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and many more.
The said celebration (Mongolian Day) is part of the activities here at our school. We also have outdoor activities like travelling in different cities and beaches.
The event was successfully delivered through our beloved students from Mongolia itself. They showed to us the culture, tradition, economy, modern city, and different tourist spots in their country.
Enkhjin (Mongolian student) showed their native dance to us. The steps were so graceful, and the music was calm as well. It was just like what you see in the traditional dance steps in Ifugao province in the Philippines.
They presented to us different games, one of those was the “shagai” or the ankle bones either of the sheep or goat. They are thought as the first forms of dice. The game also is used for fortune-telling. Just like on how to play of the dice game today, but they are made of ankle bones. The bones have 4 faces only, dissimilar to dice because they have 6 faces. They land on one of four sides when they rolled such as horse, camel, sheep, or goat.
The winners received awards (chocolate and tughrik which is the currency or money of Mongolia).
After the discussion and games, the Mongolian students prepared their native food for us. They cooked the food before the event started.
Thank you everyone for sharing with us your culture and tradition. Great job! Happy Mongolian Day! 🙂
